I have all the stories!

I'm doing this goal list, which is 101 in 1001; basically, you make a list of 1001 things you want to do or acheive in 1001 days, and then as you do them you check them off. Some of mine are centered around the American Girl Dolls and when I got Addy, one goal was made. =)

One of my goals is to get all the American Girl stories--mostly the short stories and main six books. I try to get the books secondhand from Half Price Books so I can get the older ones and the little facts in the back, and then if I get an All In One I have all the newer pictures for some.

Well, between the four All In Ones I've gotten (Sam, Kit, Kaya, and Felicity) and all the individuals I've had, I now have all the main stories! Now I just have to work on getting short stories, which is a little harder to find. So are individual older copies.

Ah well, on with the hunt!

Oh, I LOVE Half Price Books (are you talking about chain named that?). We are from Texas, where it started, and we'd go there all the time. They don't have them here, but we've found a couple of okay used bookstores, but they're no comparison.

Have you ever been to Powell's books in Portland? That place is great--new books, used books--everything.

I also just love the books and want to get them all, but I'm working on collecting for the 3 dolls I have now. My dd's uncle got her the new Felicity boxed set, just because he went to Williamsburg and all the young girls were crazy over Felicity. My first edition Addy boxed set came with her, and I just recently finished dd's set for Kit. We have one or two Molly's, and I just bought a few of her short stories from TexasMom and I have almost all Addy's short stories and both of Kit's.

Sorry--I looove books. Cookbooks, fiction, Christian nonfiction, kid's books etc. I just love 'em!

Congrats on your finds! I have been resisting the new all-in-ones at Costco for $17.

Yes, the Half Price Books chain. We have a chain in Washington (I'm from Texas, but i live in WA state now)

I got Kaya and Felicity's All in ones from Costco; Kit's was an anniversary gift found in HPB and Sam's was a random purchase in HPB. I got all of Addy's Short Stories for Christmas with Addy. Addy's were gathered over the years, I just finished Molly and Josephina, and I got Kristen's years ago at a Goodwill.

Never been to Portland, but I'd like to go one of these days.

I'm crazy about books. I live by the rule that if your bookshelves can hold all your books, that you don't have enough books! They're everywhere in piles around my house--art books, fiction, stories, astrology, tarot, everything.

This has been my main goal with AG. I've managed to get ALL the story books. The 6 books for each of the 8 girls, all of the short stories (thanks AG for the sale!), the adventure books, the mystery books, the friend books, and even all the goml and le books. Now, I have to get those pricey World books (I do have Felicity's, as it was on sale in December).

To me, the AG books really are the most important part of the collection.

Speaking of Used Book stores, here in Arizona we have an AMAZING chain called Bookmans. There's three in Tucson, one in Mesa, and two in Phoenix. If you're ever passing through, and see one, definitely stop by and take a look!

I am hopped up reading this. I tell you, if I was given the choice of $100 gift certificate to a bookstore or one to AG, I'd probably go for the books (of course, I could always buy some AG books with it!)

A place we just found in NYC is called the Strand. I know that there are lots of NYorkers here. It's great. They have some used books, but all these brand new books at half price. Amazing.

We're going back to Houston in a few weeks for a visit with family and we always leave room in the suitcases for the return trip after visiting HPB.

I'm in Texas too and we have gotten the majority og our AG books at HPB's. The only ones we've really had trouble finding are Kit's. I guess since she is newer there are not as many copies floating around. I really like the older books with the cream cover anyway. Congratulations on your goals. Keep it up!

Sorry, Girls of Many Lands, one of the many failed AG product lines. Didn't care for the Dolls, but the books are great! And LE would be the Limited Edition Today dolls- Lindsey, Kailey, Marisol, and Jess. Most of these were very odd (read: bad), except Jess' was very enjoyable.

The Adventure books (as I call them, because they all have "Adventure" in the title, lol) are so cute!

I know-I live in NJ-but my family visits NY frequently. They took me the to the Strand when I was about 10. It was heaven! Although the way it used to be (until it was recently renovated) actually made me claustrophobic-especially then, all the children's books are in the "dungeon" as I called it growing up.

I still go there about 3 or 4 times a year with my family to "restock" on books that I need/want/could use.

I love it there!

I have four of the Girls books and have read all but two, which are sitting in my Library stacks to be read. I also have two History Mysteries, which have yet to be read. I'd really love my own copy of Saba's--I'm really into African and Black history and stories.

And I haven't read a single Limited doll's book. Are they really that bad? O_o
